NRPC maintains a regional travel demand forecasting model, which is used to predict changes in traffic volumes, based on future assumptions or planned projects. One primary use of the model to forecast traffic for the Long Range Transportation Plan, and to analyze air quality benefits of certain transportation-related projects.

However with our new model, developed in 2003, NRPC is now able to look at more local issues, often down to the city-block level, due to the detail of the roads and data in the model itself. This page highlights some local projects that NRPC has assisted our member communities with.

For more information on how the model works, or about any of the projects you see below, please contact Ryan Friedman at (603) 883-0366 X20.

If you think your community could be assisted by our regional model, please contact Steve Williams at (603) 883-0366 X17 to see how NRPC can help you.

NRPC was asked by the Town of Pelham's Safety Committee to look at various options for reconfiguring their town center. The alternatives included closing off certain streets to traffic, turning two-way roads into one-way, and installing a roundabout. By comparing predicted volumes and intersection delays, NRPC was able to assist Pelham in making a decision.
