Milford Community Event ~ Saturday May 15
Time ~ 3:00-6:00 PM (rain date May 16, 3:00-6:00)
Location ~ Kaley Park, 442 Nashua Street, Milford (behind St. Joseph Medical Center)
Details ~ this event will serve as a kick-off to Smart Commute Week and will be held in conjunction with the Milford Recreation Department’s Kaley Park Grand Opening. We will offer organized bike rides, raffles, informational booths, and materials to help you plan your Smart Commute. The Park Grand Opening will also feature food, music, guided river walks, horse carriage rides, and tethered hot air balloon rides. Admission is free and donations support the park.
Event Parking ~ parking at Kaley Park will be very limited. Satellite parking will be available at the Hampshire Dome, 34 Emerson Road, Milford, which is just over a mile away. We are please to offer free bus service from the Hampshire Dome to Kaley Park. The bus will depart the Hampshire Dome every half hour beginning at 2:45, and will depart Kaley Park every half hour beginning at 3:00. The last bus will leave Kaley Park at 6:00. As an incentive to utilize this service, all bus riders will be entered into a raffle for some great prizes.
Bicycle Awareness Ride ~ as part of this event, we are organizing a Bicycle Awareness Ride in Milford. The rides will start and end at the Hampshire Dome, 34 Emerson Road, Milford. We are offering a 5 mile, 10 mile, and 30 mile ride, so there is something for all ages and abilities. Click here for details. We are currently seeking volunteers to lead these rides. In the coming months, the Bike-Walk Alliance of NH will be conducting Bicycling Awareness Rides across the state. They will include multiple loops rides from family-friendly short routes to more challenging loops for experienced cyclists. The Bicycling Awareness Rides will highlight rail trails, scenic and historic locations, helmet use (a state law for those under 16), proper cycling techniques, compliance with the rules of the road including the "3 foot rule," and how cyclists and motorists can safely share our roadways. |

Downtown Nashua Community Event ~ Friday May 21
Time ~ 7:00-9:00 AM
Location ~ in front of City Hall, 229 Main Street, Nashua
Details ~ this event will serve as the culmination of Smart Commute Week. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the event en-route to work using Smart Commute methods. Activities will include food, raffles, informational booths, and educational materials. Start your morning off right and get energized for your Smart Commute.
Special Activities ~ at 9:00 AM, join the Nashua Parks & Recreation Deparment for an organized walk on the Nashua River Rail Trail. Walkers will meet at the trail parking lot off Gilson Road in Nashua. For more information, click here.

Employer Activities ~ May 17-21
NRPC is helping employers to develop Smart Commute Week activities at their businesses. These may include prizes and incentives for participating workers, challenges with other businesses, educational events, and breakfast parties. Participating businesses include Southeastern Container in Hudson, Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack, Hampshire Hills in Milford, the City of Nashua, and Nashua High School South.
