The Nashua Regional Planning Commission began preparing for Shaping Our Future in 2005 with the completion of the Region-wide Buildout Impact Analysis.  Since then, we have also studied recent growth trends in the region and have presented this data in a variety of forums.

In early 2007 we launched a broad public outreach campaign to discuss where the Nashua Region stands today and to receive input on the most important issues facing our region in the coming years.

January/Februay 2007
We began by asking citizens to identify the most important issues facing the region in the next 20 years.

March 2007
NRPC's Commissioners then defined these issues more narrowly, placing special emphasis on those we could impact as a region. From this discussion, 6 key issues emerged:

May/June 2007

Next, NRPC developed a range of strategies to address these issues and held a series of open house workshops to gauge the public's response.

November 2007
In November, NRPC invited community leaders, experts in the field, and interested citizens to participate in a series of focus groups and provide additional feedback on how best to address these issues at the regional level. The first round of focus groups covered Transportation, Energy & Green Building, and Water Resources. As reports from the forums are completed they will be posted here and are available in PDF format by clicking on the links below.

Early 2008
Early in 2008 NRPC will begin work on the remaining 3 topics--Community Infrastructure, Regional Cooperation, and Higher Education. We will also conduct follow-up meetings to begin implementing recommendations from the November focus groups.
