A year ago, the Nashua Regional Planning Commission began changing the way people think about community planning with the launch of iTRaC.  By integrating transportation, land use, and environmental planning, iTRaC helps communities to deal with the challenges of growth in a manner that sustains community character and fosters a sense of place.  iTRaC is a comprehensive program with services that support the diverse planning needs of our local communities.

During its first year, the iTRaC program has made great strides.  Special projects are now underway or complete in 5 communities.  Fact sheets and resource cards have been developed on 10 pertinent planning topics and our first Best Practices Guide has been published.  We have sponsored 5 trainings and have amassed a substantial lending library.  Best of all, we have been able to offer these services free of charge to our communities. In the coming year we look forward to building on our successes and expanding iTRaC even further.

The iTRaC program is designed to make your life easier by providing one stop shopping for all of your planning needs.  We offer a variety of helpful resources and services including:

Resource Cards & Fact Sheets

Resource Cards and Fact Sheets are published bi-monthly on a host of cutting edge planning topics.  Whether you need a quick refresher on traffic calming techniques or want an overview on how form based codes are used, iTRaC’s Ready References are there to help.

Best Practices Guides

iTRaC’s Best Practices Guides are perfect when you need something more in-depth than a fact sheet but don’t want to wade through an entire reference book.  iTRaC recently published its first Guide, titled “A Roadmap to Understanding Transportation in Your Community.”

Trainings

Who better to teach you about current planning topics than individuals actually putting them into practice?  iTRaC brings in local leaders in the planning field to conduct free trainings on a variety of timely issues.  Best of all, you can select a topic that is most relevant to your needs and iTRaC will hold the training right in your community.

Lending Library

When it is time to dig deeper into a particular topic, look not further than the iTRaC Lending Library.  The Lending Library is continuously updated with the most current books on all of the topics you need.  Stop by our office to browse through the selections in person or choose a book online and we will mail it to you.

Additional Services

Each community is different.  iTRaC staff will work with you to determine which services will be most helpful to meet your specific needs.  These could range from conducting a hands-on place making exercise to developing a coordinated planning audit that assess how well existing land use regulations integrate sound environmental, land use, and transportation planning principles.

All iTRaC Special Projects and Services are available free of charge.  To find out how your community can take part in this valuable program, please contact us.
