Much like homeowners, businesses often find themselves with hazardous waste that needs to be disposed of. These businesses are classified by New Hampshire state regulations as either Small Quantity Generators (SQGs) or Full Quantity Generators (FQGs).
A Small Quantity Generator is any business that produces less than 220 pounds of hazardous waste (or 2.2 pounds of "acutely hazardous waste") per month. For more details, see the NH DES Administrative Rules. Common SQGs include printing shops, auto repair garages, dry cleaners, and laboratories.
Any SQG within the Nashua region that has an EPA ID Number can bring hazardous wastes to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center during regular HHW Collection Events. If you do not have an EPA Identification Number, please call NH DES at 603-271-2921.
Businesses interested in participating in the HHW Collection must contact Marty Gaffney at Envirosafe, 1-800-585-7916, at least two weeks prior to the event. Envirosafe will ask specific questions regarding the amount and type of waste the business wishes to dispose of. If Envirosafe is confident the business has the proper container to self transport the hazardous material, they will quote a price and generate an EPA manifest, which will be mailed prior to the collection event. There is a $150.00 paperwork fee to SQG's ($75.00 for returning customers).
